Contracted by the company Spaansen, a current container ship has been transformed into a hopper dredger.
This ship was found in Singapore and is sailed to Harlingen, where shipyard Bijlsma was ordered to convert the hold of the ship. The hold required a complete overhaul and new foundations need to be placed on the deck for the conveyors. Because of the size of the ship, the majority of the work had to be carried out while the vessel was in the water. The ship is used to dregde for gravel. This material will be used for concrete prefab parts.
