NEW BUILDING
Three multi-purpose vessels for Rijkswaterstaat
Shipyard Bijlsma has developed three multi-purpose vessels for Rijkswaterstaat. The Merweststroom is the first of the series of three vessels. After that, the Waddenstroom and the Scheldestroom were also built by Shipyard Bijlsma. The ships will be used for various functions such as patrolling, waterway marking, measuring and fisheries research.
In the design of these vessels, the focus was on sustainability and efficiency. The vessels are equipped with solar collectors and next to that cooling water from generators is used for heating the crew quarters. Furthermore, a set of batteries provides energy used for daily operations. The sustainable design of the vessels ensure extremely low CO2 emissions compared to conventional vessels.
