DOT (formerly known as Infoversum) is a 3D dome cinema/planetarium in the city of Groningen.

The building, located on the corner of Bloemsingel and Vrydemalaan, was built during 2013 – 2014. It consists of a projection dome with a size of 20 meters, surrounded by a structure of corten steel. The building was designed by Jack van der Palen of Architectural Group Archiview. The initiative for the realization of the building and the design of the planetarium theater origined from the Groningen professor of astronomy Edwin Valentijn. The former Infoversum was opened by Commissioner of the King Max van den Berg on June 17, 2014.

This modern and complex design was realized by Shipyard Bijlsma. The ‘sphere’ was largely assembled In the construction halls in Wartena. The large building had to be transported to Groningen in pieces subsequently. Bijlsma delivered it as a kit and a local company put it together on site. Shipyard Bijlsma was called in for the construction because of its knowledge and experience in complex steel construction and has delivered this beautiful result.
